June 11th is the 9th annual National Get Outdoors Day, sponsored by the US Forest Service. Below are three parks inside the 285 perimeter that are worth checking out this weekend!
The Blue Heron Nature Preserve

Just off Roswell Road between North Buckhead and Chastain Park, The Blue Heron Nature Preserve is 30 acres of wetlands featuring Sycamores, Cedars, Mulberrys, Elm trees and an Ash Elder that is almost 85″ in diameter!
Murphey-Candler Park Conservancy

The largest park in Brookhaven, Murphey-Candler park is a great place to hike some trails, take a picnic, and watch out for some amazing wildlife, including a heron, otter families, foxes and deer, as they live in and around the trees.
Elwyn John Wildlife Sanctuary

Elwyn John Wildlife Sanctuary, easily accessed off North Druid Hills near Briarcliff Rd, is charming, lightly-trafficked and a great place for a walk, a talk, a picnic or just some alone time in the middle of the city!
